How to Prevent Sport Injuries

Playing sports is good for your health, but sometimes you can injure yourself. Prevention of training injuries is far easier than fixing them afterwards.

There are so many reasons sports injuries can be caused by, for example,  not warming up properly before exercising and pushing yourself too hard or using inadequate equipment. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, up to 50 % of all athletic injuries can be avoided if athletes take appropriate preventive action.

Many people associate sports massage with injury, but the main benefits of sports massage are much more about prevention than cure. Many athletic teams use massage to prevent the injuries that naturally occur with strenuous movement. Sports massage focuses on specific muscles used in a sport, for example, the back and shoulders for swimmers and the legs for runners. Also, it helps you train more effectively, improve performance and recovery quickly.

2. Physio tape:

Physio Tape also known as Kinesio Tape and it is applied over muscles to support them and the joint areas that sustain the maximum stress in movement on a 24hr/day basis. Sports safety equipment and gear is essential for preventing serious injuries or reducing the severity of an injury. It is very important to use the correct protective equipment meant for the particular sporting activity such as pads (neck, shoulder, elbow, chest, knee, shin), helmets, mouthpieces, face guards, protective cups or eye-wear.

So, start your routine with an easy cardiovascular workout to raise your body temperature and heart rate, and finish with slow easy stretching. Also, stop when you are fatigued. Pay attention to nutrition and it is essential to maintain your fluid levels to avoid dehydration. Prevention is better than cure because treatments can be expensive, life-changing and sometimes damaging.
