Blackheads are clogged hair follicles on the skin’s surface that result when a collection of pollution, dead skin cells, grime, sebum and germs get into open pores. They usually appear on the nose and cheeks, but they can also affect other parts of the facial skin.
We all know that blackheads don’t make our face look aesthetically and we are all looking for methods to remove them. Beside professional and usually expensive products specially created for removing blackheads, we can also use some homemade ones that can be more effective.
Here are some of them:
1. Lemon Juice
As it contains citric acid which naturally removes dead skin and vitamin C that is also full of benefits, the lemon juice is one of the most effective and common home remedy against blackheads.
Squeeze about one teaspoon of juice from a lemon into a glass and apply the juice on your face using a cotton ball. Let it there for about ten minutes until it dries, then rinse it off with cold water. Use this treatment every day.
Cinnamon is a great spice that can be used in a variety of foods to give a special taste and scent. But this amazing product can also be used with success for different cosmetic treatments as it has great anti-bacterial properties. From cinnamon powder you can make a great aromatic facial mask that is excellent in removing blackheads.
Mix one part cinnamon powder with two parts honey and apply a thin layer of this mixture over the blackheads. Leave the mask on your face for fifteen minutes then wash it off and apply your favorite moisturizers.
3. Baking Soda
A versatile product that can be used in many purposes, the baking soda has amazing antiseptic qualities that makes it a great remedy against blackheads.
In a bowl, mix one tablespoon of baking soda with just a small amount of water to form a paste. Apply this mixture on your face and let it there for ten minutes. Rinse with warm water.
4. The Cosmetic Clay
The cosmetic clay is also a great remedy against blackheads.
Mix one tablespoon of clay with one tablespoon water and stir until you form a paste. Apply this paste on your face and let is dry for twenty minutes then rinse.
5. Brown Sugar Scrub
A good exfoliating treatment, followed by moisturizing, is also a great remedy against blackheads. You can prepare different scrubs with products from your kitchen. Here is my favorite one, a sweet and really effective brown sugar scrub.
Mix four tablespoons of olive oil with one cup of brown sugar and add several drops of your favorite essential oil and stir until you form a past. Apply the mask on your clean face and massage it over your skin with circular motions. Rinse with water then apply your usual moisturizer.
